Description |
This is a Military Payment Certificate, Series 481 for Five Cents. The paper certificate has an illustration of a seated woman on the front along with the denomination, serial number, and other information. The back of the certificate has an illustration of a bald eagle from the American Seal as well as information pertaining to use of the currency. These certificates were issued to American military personnel from 1946-1973 in order to keep American currency from inflating local economy and hampering work to stablize foreign governments. The certificate was donated by Robert L. Ulatoski, an Oak Lawn resident who served in the US Army during the Korean War. |
