This is a photograph of the Kirk Annex behind the First Congregational Church, 411 S. 51st Avenue. The black & white image shows the exterior of a one story building, set against the back wall of the stone block church. Large windows, with gingham curtains, line the wall and a small entry door can be seen at the image right. Kirk Annex was named after Rev. Kirk Dewey who served as minister to the church from 1929 to 1936.The annex consisted of two portable school rooms purchased from the City of Chicago and was used for Sunday School classes and organizational meetings.. |
