Description |
This is a photograph featuring a view of the front (east) facades of the former K-Mart and Dominick's Food Store located on the northwest corner of 111th Street and Cicero Avenue. Both stores were empty and redevelopment plans were underway. The buildings were torn down in October of 2012 and January of 2013. The site was redeveloped as the Stony Creek Promenade. Originally the structure was home to The Treasury (Division of J.C. Penney) Store, built in 1973 and opened in February, 1974. It was a discount chain of J.C.Penney. They closed all their stores in 1979, including this one, in July of that year. K-Mart and Dominick's moved in shortly after. |
