This is a formal photograph of Gottfried Braasch and Emma (Lange) Braasch with their wedding attendants. The black & white image shows the bride, seated, with her attendants on either side and the bridegroom with his attendants standing behind the women. The wedding took place November 19, 1909 in Oak Lawn. Back row: William Kurth; Albert Schultz; Gottfried Braasch; and Otto Brandt. Front row: Elizabeth Lange; Ella Lange; Emma (Lange) Braasch; and Minnie Braasch. Emma Lange was the daughter of Henry Lange and granddaughter of Joachim Lange, one of Oak Lawn's earliest settlers, who farmed from Cicero Avenue to 5000 West and from 95th Street to 89th Street. Joachim Lange donated land for the first Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at 5000 W. 95th Street and for the school building at 95th Street and Cicero. |
