Description |
This is a photograph of Edward R. Muscarella in 1945. Muscarella served as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. This photograph of him was taken at Camp Haid, near Linz, Austria in 1945. Camp Haid was a camp for displaced persons during the war. Displaced persons were civilians who were affected by the turmoil. Camp Haid also served as a prisoner of war camp for SS men, soldiers of the German secret police. Muscarella, an Oak Lawn resident, earned the Bronze Star Medal during his service. He died on January 24, 2017 and is interred at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. |
