Description |
This is a photograph of workers on the construction site of the 51st Avenue Station development, a mixed commercial and residential building, located at 9440 South 51st Avenue. This development was built on the former site of Fernwood Smith Cleaners at 5114 West 95th Street, the A & B Oak Lawn Currency Exchange located at 5112 W. 95th Street, and Millie's Ice Cream and Coffee Shoppe which was located in back of the currency exchange at 5108 West 95th Street. This photograph looks south from the north side of the construction site. A backhoe and dump truck are working while stacks of cement blocks are positioned for installation. In the background, the rail crossing gates and light on 95th Street near 51st Avenue can be seen. In the distance in the right of the photograph, one of the commuter canopy shelters at the Oak Lawn Metra stop is partially in view. |
