Description |
This is a photograph featuring the start of excavation on the southwest corner of the Oak Lawn Public Library. The foundation of the existing library is exposed. The excavation began a $950,000, 24,000 square foot expansion of the Oak Lawn Public Library. A backhoe can be seen working along Raymond Avenue. A dump truck waits behind it to be filled. Two men can be seen in the work area. In the background, Behrend home located at 9446 S. Raymond Avenue is visible, along with several trailers in the Pine Tree Trailer Court. The building was built in 1912 or 1913. It served as the Oak Lawn Family Service Center from 1986-1989. The home was demolished and the trailer court was eventually cleared in 1989 to make way for the new Oak Lawn Public Safety Center. |
