This is a photograph of Oak Lawn’s Business District (95th Street looking east) near Minnick Avenue around 1947. The Oak Lawn Dairy Bar at 5312 West 95th Street, the Oak Lawn Trust and Savings Bank at 5310 West 95th Street, Behrend’s Hardware at 5300 West 95th Street, the Hilgendorf home at 5256 West 95th Street (later the Yankee Lounge), Safeway Motors Sinclair Gasoline station at 5252 West 95th Street, Jim's Tap Room at 5220 West 95th Street (formerly Schultz's Tavern and later Nick's Tap Room), and the Oak Lawn Water Tower are visible. Some automobiles of the era are parked along the street. |
