Description |
This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Centennial Parade in 1982. The parade celebrated the 100th anniversary of when Oak Lawn was first subdivided. In this photograph, a float sponsored by the Oak Lawn Kiwanis Club honors Oak Lawn's first doctor, John Hopkins. Moving westbound on 95th Street, the float has just crossed the railroad tracks near 51st Avenue. It features a man in period dress atop a life-sized model horse. Several other people are riding on the float including a young girl wearing a white dress with a blue pageant sash. The Groebe Realty office, located at 5041 West 95th Street, is partially visible in the background. |
