Description |
This is a photograph of Charles Bakutis standing in the driveway of the home located at 9126 South 54th Avenue. The view is looking west from the back of the home to the east down the south facade of the home which is on the left. The home was purchased by the Bakutis family in 1953. Today it is known as the Chapman House (Harker Farm House), a historical landmark that was built in 1924. The home was built on vertical poles and had no foundation. There was a cellar in the rear of the house that contained a coal burning furnace and coal bin. Bakutis later put in a foundation and enlarged the cellar. In this photograph, the home has been updated on the exterior with aluminum siding. A pipe for receiving heating oil can be seen on the side of house near a small window. |
