This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Centennial Parade in 1982. The parade celebrated the 100th anniversary of when Oak Lawn was first subdivided. It features a float sponsored by the Oak Lawn Trust & Savings Bank with a replica of the Statue of Liberty moving westbound on 95th Street at the railroad crossing near 51st Avenue. Several unidentified young women are riding on the float. Spectators can be seen lining the south side of 95th Street to watch the parade. The Grobe Realty office, located at 5041 W. 95th Street, and a private residence on 51st Avenue are partially visible in the background behind the float. |
