Description |
This is a photograph looking to the north of flooding in the backyard of the Lah home located at 5752 101st Street in 1970. The water tower located at 98th Street and Massasoit Avenue can be seen the right background of the photograph. A few houses are also in the background. The area surrounding the Lah home was mostly undeveloped and the area south of the Lah home is now Memorial Park (formerly Southwest Park). Robert Lah wrote extensively about the area in a paper titled 'Prairie Days in Oak Lawn'. It discusses his personal recollections of the grassland ecosystem that once existed throughout the Oak Lawn area, focusing on the 1950s and 1960s. |
