Description |
This is a photograph of damages after the 1967 Oak Lawn tornado. The color image, taken from 55th Court near 94th Street, shows the damaged east facade of St. Gerald School. Part of the roof timbers are protruding from the buildings and the windows have been blown out. Tree limbs are strewn across the lawn. A woman is walking on the sidewalk near the school The school, on the south end of the church buildings, was deemed unsalvageable and was demolished and a new school built in its place. |
