Description |
This is a photograph of the first grade class at Cook Avenue School, circa 1924. The black & white image shows a group of young boys and girls posing for the photographer in front of a white frame building. The teacher, Miss Pohlman, is behind the students. The building in the background is the former Methodist Episcopal Church, 9536 S. Minnick Avenue. During a period of overcrowding, District #123 held classes in that building which was being used as a community center at that time. Bottom row: The boy on the left is Ed Schussler. Second row: Russell Syverson,1st from left; Harry Larson, 3rd from left; two girls are Jean McNichols and Alma Dehler. Third row: Donald O'Brian, 1st from left; two boys are Henry Voss and Alfred A.
