This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Centennial Parade in 1982. This event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of when Oak Lawn was first subdivided. This photograph features the Medinah Shriners Black Horse Troop performing on 95th Street near Massasoit Avenue. Shriners International is a fraternity organization that is an offshoot of the Masons. The Black Horse Troop is a parade unit of the organization and the Shriners are best known for their Shriners Hospitals for Children. A dental office located at 5669 West 95th Street is visible in the background on the right. People can be seen lining both sides of 95th Street to watch the parade. |
