This is a photo negative of Ridge Lawn subdivision in Oak Lawn, circa 1950. The black & white image, taken at 101st Street and Kolin Avenue, looks west toward Kostner Avenue. A truck is parked in the center and has a sign on the door for C.B. Drenth and Sons Builders. Two men are standing by another truck parked on the left side. From left to right, the Hamstra house on Kostner, a farm house, and the Schaller house on Kolin can be seen in the background. Another house, on the right side of the photo, is framed out. The foreground is a muddy, rut filled mess. C.B. Drenth, also known as Christian B. Drenth, was an area builder who lived in Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park. |
