Description |
This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Pet Parade in 1980. The parade was sponsored by the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce. It began at 95th Street and Mansfield Avenue and traveled east to Cook Avenue. The theme was storybook characters. This photograph features a view of three different groups of parade participants waiting to make the turn on to Cook Avenue. Nearest to the camera are Lucy Conway, Robert Conway, an unidentified girl, and Clancey the dog in costumes representing Aunt Em, Dorothy, and the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. Clancey the dog is representing the Cowardly Lion and the group took first place in one of the categories. Traffic on 95th Street has been diverted to the right (north) side of the street with one lane traveling in each direction to accommodate the parade. The traffic signals at the intersection of Cook Avenue and 95th Street and the 5210 Office Building are partially visible in the background. |
