Daley (standing second from left) unsuccessfully challenged Republican candidate Elmer Walsh in an election for Cook County Sheriff. Daley’s loss was his only electoral defeat in his long political career. Seated second from left with Daley's hand on his shoulder, is Albert H. Brandt. Albert H. Brandt served as Village President (Mayor) from 1935 to 1944 and was active in the Democratic Party. The rest of the men in the picture are unidentified.
