This is a photograph featuring a car in the driveway of the home located at 9126 S. 54th Avenue. The man behind the wheel of the car is believed to be Charles Bakutis, the homeowner. The two boys about to enter the car are unidentified. The south facade of the home is seen on the right. The home was purchased by Viola and Charles Bakutis in 1953. Today it is known as the Chapman House (Harker Farm House), a historical landmark that was built in 1924. The home was built on vertical poles and had no foundation. There was a cellar in the rear of the house that contained a coal burning furnace and coal bin. Bakutis later put in a foundation and enlarged the cellar. |
