Description |
This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Centennial Parade in 1982. It features a float sponsored by Wolf's Bakery moving westbound on 95th Street near Major Avenue. This event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of when Oak Lawn was first subdivided. At the time Wolf's Bakery had two locations, one at 3241 West 95th Street in Evergreen Park and one at 5263 West 95th Street in Oak Lawn. The float is decorated with a giant wedding cake under a colorful rainbow. The women riding on the float are dressed to reflect changing styles over the decades. Two of the children on the float are wearing toque blanches (French for "white hat"), or toques, a tall, round, pleated, starched white hat worn by chefs. |
