This is a photograph, circa 1912, of cousins Ambrose Sahs and Arnold Sahs canoeing on the Oak Lawn Lake. The black & white image shows two boys in the boat with the lake's island visible behind them. Ambrose Sahs was the son of William and Louise Sahs. He lived in Chicago with his family. His cousin Arnolds Sahs was the son of Charles and Emma Sahs and lived in Oak Lawn. Oak Lawn Lake was created by digging out a low spot of Stony Creek/Oak Lawn Creek in the 1890s. The lake is now part of Lake Shore Park, administered by Oak Lawn Park District. |
