Description |
This is a photograph, developed as a slide, of the damages after the 1967 Oak Lawn tornado. The color image, taken on Oak Street west of 53rd Court, shows a tree which was ripped out of the ground by the winds. Most of the tree has been cut up and removed in order to clear the street but the trunk and a broken sidewalk remain. On the left side of the photo, the O'Brien house at 9402 S. 53rd Court and its garage are visible. Several cars, including a Volkswagen Beetle, a Volkswagen bus, and a Rambler station wagon are parked on both sides of the street. |
