Description |
This is a photograph of Lovina (Quince) Beebe and William Beebe, seated, with their daughters Minnie (Beebe) Stryker, and Laura E. (Beebe) Phillips, standing behind them, circa 1907. The group is seated in the side yard of the home at 9535 South 53rd Avenue. A man's hat is on the ground in the left of the photograph and there appears to be a large fountain or birdbath behind it. A porch and garage are also in view and Cook Avenue School, located at 9526 South Cook Avenue, looms in the background. The Beebes owned a farm on the southeast corner of 95th Street and Cicero Avenue. Laura Beebe married Harry C. Phillips on January 1, 1898 on the Beebe farm. Phillips built the house on 53rd Avenue and moved his family there in 1907. Phillips was one of the first building contractors in Oak Lawn, credited with building the first Catholic church in the area and the First Congregational Church on 54th Avenue. |
