Harker, Sr. of the Oak Lawn Fire Department standing in front of a car that was won by Mr. Hartnig during a fundraiser. Harker is shaking Hartnig's hand. Grandview Park was an area bounded by 87th Street on the north, 91st on the south, Central Avenue on the east and Austin Avenue on the west. The Grandview Fire Department district covered 87th Street to 95th Street and Central Avenue to Harlem and was formed as early as 1937. Oak Lawn annexed Grandview Park in 1964 and absorbed the Grandview Park Fire district on March 23, 1965 in an effort to upgrade the fire prevention district and to bring city water to the area. |
