Description |
This is a photograph of a home located at approximately 7102 West 111th Street in Worth, Illinois. The home was next to the Worth Fire and Police Departments. It was burned down in 1976 with multiple fire departments from surrounding towns participating in the training exercise. In this photograph, two young boys have staked out a spot along the sidewalk on 111th Street under a road sign to watch the burn. Further down the street, a fire engine gets in position and several fire department personnel are near the truck. The close proximity of the house to the Worth Police Department building is clearly seen in this photograph. A man on a ladder in front of the police department is partially visible behind a tree. Radio communication towers are above and behind the home. On the left, businesses along the south side of 95th are visible including a Marathon gas station on the southeast corner of the intersection of Harlem Avenue and 111th Street. |
