Description |
This is a photograph of the construction of the Metra commuter parking lot at 95th Street and 51st Avenue. Concrete curbing has been installed. This land used to be a small park where the M-5 Stuart Tank War Memorial and Blue Star Memorial Highway plaque were located. The tank was moved to a small pad near the railroad crossing signal on 95th Street and the Blue Star Memorial Highway plaque is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Cook Avenue and 95th Street. Columbus Drive, seen blocked off with barricades in the upper right of the photograph, paralleled the railroad tracks between Cicero Avenue and 51st Avenue. It was terminated at Sproat Avenue in order to accommodate the new commuter parking lot. The cars parked in the left of the photograph are in the lot of the Pilgrim Faith United Church of Christ located at 9411 South 51st Avenue. Residential home are also visible in the background. |
