This is a photograph of the construction of the Metra commuter parking lot at 95th Street and 51st Avenue. The view is looking east from 51st Avenue at Columbus Drive. Columbus Drive paralleled the railroad tracks which are partially in view in the right of the photograph. In order to accommodate the parking lot, a small park along Columbus Drive was demolished and the road was terminated at Sproat Avenue to change the traffic pattern. In this photograph, a utility truck is seen on Columbus Drive in front of an apartment building. A small loader backhoe is spreading gravel in the right background. The white building partially visible in the right background is a former car dealership located at 5000 West 95th Street. |
