Description |
This is a photograph featuring a site that formerly housed two businesses on the northwest corner of 54th Avenue and 95th Street. The demolished building included the addresses of 5402 and 5408 West 95th Street. The property was purchased by the Village for purposes of redevelopment. At one time, Krispy Kreme Donuts had expressed interest in the property for a store. Eventually, the home located to the north at 9428 South 54th Avenue and the rest of the buildings located in the 5400 block of 95th Street were also purchased by the Village and demolished. The area was redeveloped into a bank located on the corner at 5400 West 95th Street and the T.G.I. Friday's restaurant located at 5420 West 95th Street. In this photograph, a barricade protects a new piece of cement on the razed site that has been laid for an unknown reason. There appears to be a cover over another area on the site. Vehicles can be seen moving westbound on 95th Street. Businesses on the south side of 95th Street include Southwest Podiatry Center at 5405 West 95th Street, George's Lounge at 5407 West 95th Street, and Travel Unlimited at 5411 West 95th Street. The home to the right (west) of the businesses was eventually demolished and the property redeveloped into a parking lot. The red stone building seen just to the left (south) of the home is located at 9508 West Shore Drive. |
