Description |
This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn War Memorial Site located at 95th Street and Columbus Drive. It features an M-5 Stuart Tank at a war memorial located at Columbus Drive and 95th Street. The site is a historical landmark and was established in 1937. In 1940, a French built Renault FT tank was added to the site. Renault FT tanks began seeing service in 1917. That tank was donated as scrap metal to aid the war effort during WW II. The M-5 Stuart tank was introduced into military service in 1941 and saw combat in the African and European Theaters of war. Two wreaths on stands can be seen at the front of the tank. |
