This is a photograph of damages after the 1967 Oak Lawn tornado. The black & white image shows a woman, identified as Mrs. Peter Kasznke, facing the camera with her head turned to the left as she walks near the intersection of 95th Street and Southwest Highway. She is wearing a head scarf knotted under her chin, a long dark cloth coat, and sturdy shoes and is carrying a purse in her right hand. Behind her, debris is mounded on the left side of the image and a large work truck is parked on the street. The remains of the Fairway Supermarket sign is tilting behind the woman. |
