Description |
This is a photograph featuring a view of the back entrance of the home located at 9126 S. 54th Avenue. From l-r: Ana Bakutis (mother of Charles Bakutis); Charles Bakutis; his wife, Viola Bakutis; and Viola's mother, Kate Guersch. Just to the right of the group, the door to the cellar of the home is visible. The home was purchased by Viola and Charles Bakutis in 1953. Today it is known as the Chapman House (Harker Farm House), a historical landmark that was built in 1924. The home was built on vertical poles and had no foundation. There was a cellar in the rear of the house that contained a coal burning furnace and coal bin. Bakutis later put in a foundation and enlarged the cellar. |
