The color photograph shows Mr. and Mrs. Gill Newman presenting crafts, dancing, and artifacts of Native Americans to a group of children and young adults in the Children's Room at the Oak Lawn Public Library in November of 1975. They also answered questions that were posed by the audience. In the middle of the photograph, Mr. Newman can be seen wearing Native American regalia including beaded and furry footwear (moccasins?), a beaded pouch bag, bells on the sides of his pants, a porcupine quill beaded necklace(?), beaded cuffs, and a headdress. Behind Mr. Newman, Mrs. Newman is watching him dance. In the background, a table adorned with Native American artifacts and objects can be seen. |
