This is a photograph of Olaf Larsen cutting ice on Evergreen Farm near 104th Street and Central Avenue. Another man can be moving the cut ice with a pole. An ice house is seen in the distance. Evergreen Farm was at 103th Street and Long Avenue and encompassed about 120 acres. The property was owned by Albert Van Den Berghen, a noted Belgian sculptor. Olaf Larsen was the father of Carl Larsen who served as Mayor of Oak Lawn from 1945 to 1949. |
