This is a photograph of the house at 5137 West 100th Street, on the southeast corner of the intersection of 100th Street and 52nd Avenue. The property, owned by the Greimain family, was purchased by the Village of Oak Lawn in September of 2018 for a cost of $100,000. The home was purchased because it was plagued with flooding as it sits at what is described as one of the lowest points in not only Oak Lawn, but all of Cook County. It is expected that the house will be razed and the lot used for a natural retention basin. The Village also bought the property at 9939 52nd Avenue, located directly north of this property across 100th Street, in October of 2016 and made a shallow retention basin on the lot. |
