This is a photograph of the home located at 9522 South 53rd Avenue. The home, believed to have been built around 1893, once belonged to Dr. John P. Hopkins and also served as his office. Hopkins was Oak Lawn's first doctor coming from Orland Park in 1892. He practiced until his death on April 12, 1908 after which his nephew, Edward Schussler, took over his practice and continued to serve Oak Lawn for the next 50 years. |
