This is a photograph featuring the razing of Dewey's Tavern, located at 5248 W. 95th Street, to make way for the expansion of the Oak Lawn Public Library. At the time the building was demolished it was being used as a Senior Citizen drop-in center. In the background, above the tavern, the Behrend home, formerly located at 9446 S. Raymond, is partially visible. In the background to the right, a trailer in the Pine Tree Trailer Court, also located at 9446 South Raymond Avenue, and a car parked along the street can be seen. On the right, the southwest corner of the library building is partially visible. |
