Description |
This is a slide of the aftermath of the 1967 Oak Lawn tornado. It features a view of the Tourangeau residence at 9417 S. Menard Avenue. The address is seen chalked on the house. The home was heavily damaged in the tornado. The Halsten residence next door to the south at 9421 Menard is completely destroyed. The address is chalked on a piece of the remaining foundation. People can be seen looking at the damage and possibly retrieving property. In the background, laundry is drying on a clothesline behind a home with boarded up windows. Several surrounding houses and businesses that border 95th Street are missing roofs, windows are boarded up, and debris is strewn everywhere. A workman in a cherry picker can be seen working on the overhead wires. A sign for the Phillips 66 Oak Lawn Service Center at 95th & Massasoit is visible above the buildings. |
