| Description | This is a photograph of World War II Army soldier, Fred Triezenberg, on a horse at Camp Custer in Michigan. Triezenberg was working as a maintenance man at Simmons School located at 95th and Ridgeland Avenue when he enlisted in the Army on January 22, 1942. He served until November 2, 1945. Triezenberg was originally assigned to a cavalry unit. However, when it became clear that the cavalry would not be needed in the war effort, Triezenberg was assigned to a medical unit and was stationed in New Guinea and Australia for part of his enlistment. Triezenberg's brothers, George and Simon, also served in the armed forces during World War II. After the war, he returned to his work as a maintenance man at Simmons School until his retirement in 1980. |
