Description |
This is a photograph featuring a view of the redevelopment of Raymond Avenue in 1996. The street was redeveloped in conjunction with the construction of the Village Green on the site of the former Village Hall located at 5252 W. Dumke Drive. A Veterans Memorial was also built on the Village Green. This view is looking from the southeast to the northwest just north of the Oak Lawn Public Library. People are seen planting flowers in the beds in front of the Municipal Center. The Village Municipal Center sign and parking lot are visible in the background. Some neighborhood homes along Oak Street are also in view. Bricks are piled on the median soon to be installed as crosswalks. New trees and new grass are seen on the east side of Raymond Avenue. Caution tape is still up around the new grass. |
