Description |
This is a black & white photograph of the prize-winning float in the Golden Jubilee parade. Posing on the float are Genevieve Meyer, Kay Tribe, and the Meyer and Tribe children. The man on the back of the float is unidentified. The float carries a small covered wagon with a horse sculpture in front of it. The float is at 96th and Western Avenue in front of The Fair store in Evergreen Plaza believed to be the staging area for the parade. Signs on the float advertise the upcoming Oak Lawn Jubilee celebration that was held from August 23 through August 30, 1959. The float is being pulled by a car, partially visible in the right of the photo. In the background, a submarine, believed to be another parade float is visible. The verso has the information card from the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper and the newspaper caption affixed as well as two date stamps. |
