This is a photograph featuring construction of the Village Green north of the Oak Lawn Public Library. This view is of the former site of the Oak Lawn Village Hall at 5252 West Dumke Drive (formerly known as James Street). In this photograph a bulldozer is clearing the site while other equipment removes Dumke Drive between Raymond Avenue and Cook Avenue. Dumke Drive was terminated at Cook Avenue in order to accommodate the construction of the Village Green, the Kid's Kingdom Playground, and the Veterans Memorial. The homes visible in the background are on the south side of Oak Street in the 5200 block. The Masonic Lodge, located at 9420 South 52nd Avenue, is in the background on the right. |
