Description |
This is a photograph featuring the Oak Lawn Christmas Parade in 1994. In this image, a parade unit of the Medina Shriners service organization is moving westbound on 95th Street, just west of the railroad crossing near 51st Avenue. Behind them, several other Shriners are driving their famous 'flying carpet cars'. People are lining the left (north) side of 95th Street to watch the parade while traffic on 95th Street has been re-routed to the southbound lanes. Businesses partially in view on the north side of 95th Street include the sign for the A & B Oak Lawn Currency Exchange located at 5112 West 95th Street and the Cleo Women's Boutique located at 5102 West 95th Street. The lights, signals and gates of the railroad crossing can be seen on both sides. On the right (south) side of 95th Street the Grobe Realty office, located at 5041 W. 95th Street, is prominent. Some residential homes located south and east of the railroad crossing are partially in view and the back of a large billboard is overhead. The white building in the right background is the shuttered Oak Lawn Hand Car Wash and Detail Center located at 5105 W. 95th Street. |
