Description |
This is a photograph of the intersection of 95th Street and 53rd Avenue. The view is looking at the south side of 95th Street. Businesses include Wolf's Bakery located at 5263 W. 95th Street, the Lincoln Meat Market (Eckert Brothers) located at 5267 W. 95th Street, and the Ratajik Pharmacy located at 5269 W. 95th Street. On the southwest corner of the intersection, the Oak Lawn Elks Lodge #2254 at 5301 West 95th Street, the Town Tap Room at 5303 West 95th Street, and the Oak Lawn Family Shoe Store at 5305 West 95th Street are in view. The shoe store is in the building formerly known as Larson's Hall. Olaf and Emma Larsen lived in the second floor section and the first floor was used for community functions such as dances. In 1909, the hall was used for the meetings and elections which lead to the incorporation of the Village of Oak Lawn and served for a time as the new Village's offices. Cars can be seen parked in front of businesses on both sides of the street. |
