Description |
This is a photograph of the construction site of the 51st Avenue Station development, a mixed commercial and residential building, located at 9440 South 51st Avenue. This development was built on the former site of Fernwood Smith Cleaners at 5114 West 95th Street, the A & B Oak Lawn Currency Exchange located at 5112 W. 95th Street, and Millie's Ice Cream and Coffee Shoppe which was located in back of the currency exchange at 5108 West 95th Street. This photograph looks to the northwest across the construction site from 95th Street. The photograph appears to have been taken between the construction fencing which partially obscures it. The walls of the building are growing steadily. Partially visible beyond the construction site in the left of the photograph is Krauss' Gaslite Lounge, located at 5130 West 95th Street. Just to the right (north) private residences located in the 9400 block of Tulley Avenue on the west border of the construction site can be seen. The first home seen in this photograph was eventually demolished to make way for parking behind the businesses in the 5100 block of 95th Street. |
