This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Centennial Parade in 1982. This event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of when Oak Lawn was first subdivided. This photograph features a group of Native Americans moving westbound on 95th Street near Massasoit Avenue. Members of the Shriners are immediately following the group. In the background, people can be seen lining the north side of 95th Street to watch the parade. People are also watching from the stairwells at an apartment complex at 5720 West 95th Street. The dark brown building in the middle, located at 5716 West 95th Street, housed doctors' offices. The building in the far right of the photograph was the Suburbanite Currency Exchange at 5712 West 95th Street and Strad Photography at 5710 West 95th Street. People are watching the parade from the rooftop of the currency exchange. |
