Description |
This is a photograph of the Non-Partisan Party candidates for village trustee at the Gasteyer School playground in 1963. The black & white image shows the three candidates, each holding an egg-shaped sign that reads Easter Egg Hunting Ground, and four children. One of the children, a boy, is also holding the egg-shaped sign. They were promoting an Easter egg hunt that was held on the school grounds. The candidates are, left to right: Philip Special; Ben Ruzgis; and J. Vern Deadmore. The children are not identified. Gasteyer School was closed in 1980 due to declining enrollment. The school district leased the space to several different groups untll 2002, when the building was demolished. A new building was constructed on the lot and in 2003, the new Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School was opened for students. |
