Description |
This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Pet Parade in 1980. The parade was sponsored by the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce. It began at 95th Street and Mansfield Avenue and traveled east to Cook Avenue. This photograph features a view of three adult women walking with of a trio of dogs and a little girl dressed to represent Goldilocks and the Three Bears of storybook fame. The dogs are believed to be Belgian sheepdogs. Behind the group, traffic on 95th Street has been diverted to the right (north) side of the street with one lane traveling in each direction to accommodate the parade. The building partially visible in the background housed Rutledge Printing Company at 5316 West 95th Street; the Joseph Francis Accounting office at 5314 West 95th Street, and Smith Radio and TV at 5212 West 95th Street. The building has since been demolished and the land redeveloped. |
