Description |
This is a photograph of suburban mayors Anthony Vacco of Evergreen Park (back seat) and Fred M. Dumke of Oak Lawn (front seat, left) getting ready to hit the parade route during Oak Lawn's American Bicentennial celebration parade. The mayors are riding in a white Cadillac convertible supplied by the Frank Shirey Cadillac dealership located at 10125 South Cicero Avenue. Martha Dumke, wife of the Oak Lawn Mayor, is riding next to Mayor Vacco in the back seat. The driver is unidentified. A Medina Shriner member is standing near the car which is staged near Smith Fine Furs, Inc. located at 5002 West 95th Street. Shriners International is a fraternity organization that is an offshoot of the Masons. They are best known for their Shriners Hospitals for Children and they operate several motorized and mounted parade units throughout the country. A couple with a small child are standing on the sidewalk in front of the furrier. In the background, the Illinois Bell Telephone building located at 4918 West 95th Street, the United States Post Office building located at 4870 West 95th Street and the Oak Lawn Trust & Savings Bank located at 4900 West 95th Street, are partially visible. |
