Description |
This is a photograph of the Oak Lawn Centennial Parade in 1982. It features a clown pushing a baby carriage moving westbound on 95th Street near Massasoit Avenue. Cars pulling floats are seen in the background. People line the north side of 95th Street to watch the parade while others watch from the stairwells at an apartment complex at 5720 West 95th Street. The brown building partially visible behind the float, located at 5716 West 95th Street, housed doctors' offices. The building in the far right of the photograph housed the Suburbanite Currency Exchange at 5712 West 95th Street and Strad Photography at 5710 West 95th Street. People can be seen watching the parade from the rooftop of the currency exchange. This event celebrated the 100th Anniversary of when Oak Lawn was first subdivided. |
