Description |
This is a photograph showing the exterior of the Charles F. Sahs home which he built for himself in the 1890s. The house was located at 9330 S. 51st Avenue. Sahs was a carpenter contract and the father of Arnold Sahs. In this black & white Clara Buelow, a cousin of Arnold Sahs, is shown feeding chickens. This home was believed to have been sold to noted Belgian sculptor Albert Van Den Berghen in 1916 or 1917. Charles F. Sahs was born in Germany in 1870, immigrated to the United States and arrived in Oak Lawn in 1895. He married Emma Sahs in 1896 in Oak Lawn. In addition to their son Arnold, Charles and Emma were the parents of Howard, Cecil, and Roselyn. |
